HMI's Doug Malawsky and Tom Pope will be presenting at the ASCA Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona on December 6, 2024. For those consulting arborists in attendance, stop by the session at 3:15p as we will share thoughts on "Developing a team approach to a complex assignment."  The presentation will help consulting arborists consider the following:
  • Decision-making and problem-solving can be much more dynamic and successful when performed by a diverse team.
  • Multiple perspectives can enhance both the understanding of the problem and the quality of the solution. Complex assignments quite often require various types of expertise that are not usually aggregated with one individual.
Our expert duo will discuss the process of creating the optimal, team-based solution that can be broken down into three phases:
  1. Identify the expertise required to analyze and resolve the problem.
  2. Choose subject matter experts that not only meet the needs of the project but who are good collaborators and communicators.
  3. Manage the team in a manner that maximizes the contribution of each team member and produce a ‘complete’ solution.

During this session, HMI leaders will share the challenges and best practices for working within a diverse team to help consulting arborists devise more effective strategies for serving their clients.
